Anthony Joseph

Good day to you all, friends, family, respected leaders, and elders. My name is Anthony Joseph and I carry the ancestral name Is'gh'li-ya. I share this name with my younger brother Russel and my cousin Nigalle from my Snuneymuxw family. I grew up on the Sta'Mus village and my parents are Melody and Tom Harry and my grandparents are Larry and Rose Joseph and Ernie and Gwen Harry. I worked in School District #48 for 15 years as a Male At-Risk Youth Worker, First Nations Support Worker, and team leader of the First Nations Support Workers. I am thankful to graduate from Simon Fraser as a Master of Education graduate in 2021 and as a Simon Fraser Sḵwx̱wú7mesh snichim diploma graduate in 2023. I am currently serving the Squamish Nation People on my first term of Squamish Nation Chief and council. I am honored to learn, practice and teach the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh ways of being through song, dance and art.
